Words have power. More power than we might imagine. Many of us have felt their sting as well meaning and some not so well meaning people have weighed in about mental illness in our lives.
Words also have the power to encourage and offer hope. We use words to communicate the Gospel. We use them as [...]

In the forefront of this marvelous chapter stands the affirmation, “Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus,” as if to teach us that at the very heart and foundation [...]

The Fruit Comes Afterward
“The Lord hath His way in the whirlwind and storm” (Nahum 1:3).
I recollect, when a lad, and while attending a classical institute in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant, sitting on an elevation of that mountain, and watching a storm as it came up the valley. The heavens were filled with blackness, [...]

I was going through Proverbs 3 yesterday and as is typical the following verses stood out to me.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
Many of us have committed these verses to [...]

Matthew 11:28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
I [...]
