In all states of dilemma or difficulty, prayer is an available source. The ship of prayer may sail through all temptations, doubts and fears, straight up to the throne of God;, and groans, and sighs and though she may be outward bound with only griefs, and groans, and sighs, she shall return freighted with a wealth of blessings! C.H. Spurgeon
Prayer Requests
lensgirl53- Please pray for my daughter Vanessa who suffers from Misophonia (hearing sensitivity which causes rage and depression) and Borderline Personality Disorder. She has lost so much because of this…jobs, relationships….etc….we are at an all time low over this on top of losing our son to suicide. Thank you so much. God bless you.
Allan- My cousin DeAnna is recovering from a double mastectomy. Please pray there will be no complications as she goes through treatments and the cancer will be gone.
Allan- A friend lost her husband a year ago. This not too long after she had a leg amputated. She has now moved out of state to be close to her daughters. She has lost 37 pounds and is battling deep depression. Her name is Jan.
Allan- I see the doctor tomorrow. I have been slow in healing from prostate surgery but there has been good progress made. Hopefully the new meds will complete their work. Prayer would be welcomed.
Allan- I just received word that an old friend who helped me so much in my early years as a believer tried to commit suicide. Finances and health issues have been and are overwhelming. Please pray that Dick would regain hope and that God would move mightily in his life.
Praise Report
Allan- My problems since my surgery have cleared up!

Thank you for your post, especially this one from Spurgeon. I just tonight told my best friend of 44 years that I had run out of words for my prayers. I have prayed that my daughter’s life would turn around for the good but she is very unstable. I fear for her…I fear for my granddaughter (her daughter) and how it will all turn out in spite of my prayers. My friend reminded me that God hears the groans of my heart when the words won’t come. I am losing my way in this sea of grief over my daughter and also my son’s suicide. I envy all those families who are intact and seemingly doing well. I wonder what I did wrong…..
I am glad for you Allan that your problems have cleared and that you are on the road to recovery from your surgery. I have prayed for those whom you have mentioned. I am deeply saddened to hear these things. I only say very few things in my prayers anymore. I just ask that God will help them. I won’t even pretend to tell him how.
Dale, These verses come to mind as I read Spurgeon’s quote and what you shared. I believe your friend shared wisely. Below the verses are the words from a commentary written by Jamieson, Faucett, and Brown.
Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit also helps us in our weakness, since we do not know how to pray as we should. But the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words,
Romans 8:27 and the one who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, for the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to God’s will.
…..”but the Spirit itself — rather, “Himself.” (See end of Rom_8:27) maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered — that is, which cannot be expressed in articulate language. Sublime and affecting ideas, for which we are indebted to this passage alone! “As we struggle to express in articulate language the desires of our hearts and find that our deepest emotions are the most inexpressible, we ‘groan’ under this felt inability. But not in vain are these groanings. For ‘the Spirit Himself’ is in them, giving to the emotions which He Himself has kindled the only language of which they are capable; so that though on our part they are the fruit of impotence to utter what we feel, they are at the same time the intercession of the Spirit Himself in our behalf.”
You are a mom Dale. Part of being a mom is worrying about our children and grandchildren. You have been through so much I am not surprised you find yourself despairing at times. That proves you’re human and that you need God’s strength to make it through the tough times.
It’s a tough thing for a believer when a child goes through severe trials or chooses to live an ungodly life. Our best friends lost their son to a heroin overdose. He was a believer and they prayed and did all they could to help him. Yet he died at the hands of drugs. They miss him terribly and take comfort he is in the presence of God.
None of us are perfect parents although some might want to claim they are. You seem to have a very wise friend you can talk with during your difficult times. She is a gift from God. If it becomes necessary seek counsel from a pastor or even a professional if that is necessary. God has given us one another to be vessels of His grace and mercy.
Knowing you pray for the needs you read here means the world to me Dale. Thank you. Allan
